What Are Some Examples of a Yearbook Dedication?

Some examples of a yearbook dedication include writing an inspiring quote, writing something supportive, sharing a personal funny moment or writing an inside joke. Yearbook dedications are usually inserted into the yearbook itself and can be found most often in elementary, middle school and high school yearbooks.

Most yearbook dedications come from loving parents who are simply excited to share their love of their children and to send a personal message in the yearbook. The most important part of writing a yearbook dedication for a child, regardless of the age, is to avoid too much smothering as it can embarrass the child or teen.

Write the message that shares a personal congratulations and includes a few photos from the child’s life. Do not choose a photo or photos that would embarrass the child such as photos in birthday suits, funny poses, underwear or diapers and other odd poses. Address the message to your child with, “My darling Amy” or “My sweet Max.” If the child is older, consider using just his or her name.

A quote can also be a fun addition to the yearbook dedication. An example might be an inspiring quote, such as, “You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take” by Wayne Gretzky. Another might be, “The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity” by Amelia Earhart.
