A good score on the TEAS exam is 85 percent or higher. TEAS, also known as the Test of Essential Academic Skills, is the required standardized test for students looking to gain admission into nursing school.

The test consists of 170 multiple-choice questions and is divided into four sections: reading, math, science, and English and language usage. Test takers have 209 minutes to answer all of the questions. The questions in the mathematics section cover seventh- to 12th-grade math topics. In the science section, there are questions dealing with topics such as general anatomy, reasoning, and general body, earth and physical science. As for the English and language section, the questions cover topics such as vocabulary, grammar, punctuation and sentence structure.

In the reading section, the test taker has to simply read a passage and answer questions pertaining to that passage.
