Ideas for 8th grade level science fair projects include: discovering the effect soap has on plants, how air temperature and humidity effect soap bubbles and how much plant food is best for plants. Each project has its own set of steps to follow.

8th Grade Science Fair Project Examples:

Which paper airplane flies the farthest? For this project, use knowledge of aerodynamics to design different paper airplanes. Use the same type of paper to make each plane. Measure the distance each one flies to determine the result.
How do plants influence each other? This project requires growing two separate plants. Start with two bean plants, and grow one by itself, then grow another in the company of another plant. Keep all conditions such as amount of light, water, food, and temperature the same. See which plant grows better.
Does color influence how fast candles burn? Choose candles from the same brand in different colors. Burn them at the same time under the same conditions, and see which one burns the fastest.

To create a successful science fair project, it’s important to find ideas and theories that an 8th grader would find interesting. Incorporating modern technology, such as iPhones and computers, into the project can yield excellent results. Students will do their best if they feel engaged and interested in the subject.
