The National Society of High School Scholars is not considered a scam. It was founded in 2002 by Claes Nobel and currently has over 700,000 members. Its purpose is to provide recognition for outstanding academic scholars.
The National Society of High School Scholars has more than 100,000 new members inducted into the organization each year. The students come from more than 160 countries and represent an enormous diversity in ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation and religious affiliation. Over $1 million in scholarships have been provided to academic scholars since the society began.
To be inducted as a member of the society, a student must be invited. The only way that an invitation is sent to a student is if a teacher or counselor nominates the student. The teacher or counselor must fill out a specific form and send it to the society. The society leaders then review the nomination and decide if they feel that the person qualifies to become a member of the society. An invitation is sent directly to the person and then a membership fee of $60 must be paid. The fee pays for members-only web content, national events, newsletters, leadership opportunities and more. The society allows like-minded individuals to connect and get to know one another on a personal and academic level while preparing for their futures at the same time.
