Scholarships for Hispanic nursing students are important to help right a disturbing disparity in the nursing field. While Hispanics are the fastest growing minority group in the United States, they only make up two percent of the 2.6 million registered nurses. There are, of course, many scholarship opportunities for all nursing students, but Hispanic students have opportunities created especially for them that they should not hesitate to take advantage of. Here are some of the top scholarships for Hispanic nursing students.
Kaiser Permanente makes a lucrative scholarship opportunity for Hispanic nursing students who live in Northern California. They will award up to $8,000 for Hispanic students that have at least a 3.0 grade point average and are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Applicants must also show financial need. In addition to the money, winners of the award will earn the opportunity to intern at a Kaiser medical facility and attend a Hispanic College Fund Scholarship Awards gala.
This award is for Hispanic nursing students at any degree level. Students must show need, academic merit, and exhibit leadership potential. To be eligible, students must be members of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses for at least six months prior to the submission deadline. Winners of this award will receive $1,000 to be applied to tuition and fees.
