Protein is important for bodybuilders since your body needs it to build muscles and to help them recover after workouts. However, you might get bored by having the same high-protein dishes over and over again. Instead of chicken, consider some lean beef that is high in protein. You can still have a high-protein meal if you are a vegetarian with vegetarian chili. Also, have a snack or meal replacement with a protein powder shake that tastes delicious. These recipes are all easy to make and will provide your muscles with the protein they need.
A round cut of beef is the lowest in fat and the highest in protein of all beef cuts. For sesame beef, take one pound of round steak and cut it into strips. Mix together 4 tbsp. each of soy sauce, sugar and vegetable oil, as well as 2 cloves of minced garlic and 2 chopped green onions in a bowl. Marinate the beef in this mixture for 30 minutes up to overnight covered in the fridge. The longer you marinate it, the more tender and flavorful the beef will become. After marinating, cook the steak in a pan or wok for 5 minutes or until it is brown. Then add 2 tbsp. of sesame seeds and continue to cook the mixture for another 2 minutes. Serve the beef with brown rice and vegetables.
If you’re a vegetarian or you’re trying to cut back on meat, you can still have a protein-packed meal to boost your muscles. Try making a vegetarian chili with protein from soy and beans. In a pan on the stove, cook one 16 oz. package of four tofu burgers. Crumble the cooked burgers and add them to a pot. Add 1 cup each of chopped onion and bell pepper, 1/2 cup of sliced carrots, 3 minced garlic cloves and 16 oz. cans each of tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes and kidney beans to the pot. To season the chili, add 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper, 3/4 tsp. cumin, 2 tbsp. chili powder and salt to your preference and cook the mixture for a half hour. Serve the chili with a grain like rice to make sure you get complete proteins.
Protein shakes are a great option for bodybuilders to have as snacks or even to replace some meals. Purchase protein powder, such as whey or soy protein powder, to make a tasty and high-protein shake. Try a chocolate protein shake and you will think you’re having a milkshake. If you are trying to cut or lose weight, blend together 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder, 1 cup of skim milk, 2 tbsp. of natural peanut butter and 5 ice cubes. You can also add chocolate syrup if you want more chocolate taste. For a shake higher in fat if you are trying to bulk up, blend 2 scoops of chocolate protein powder, 2 cups of whole milk, 2 scoops of vanilla or chocolate ice cream, 4 tbsp. of chocolate syrup and 1/2 cup of dry rolled oats.
