5 Pieces You Need on Your Next Resort Vacation
Part of the fun of having a resort vacation is getting to shop for summer clothing in the middle of winter. Everyone else is sloshing through the snow in boots and parkas while you are trying on sundresses and wondering how many pairs of sandals you are going to need. If you are lucky enough to have a trip to someplace sunny and warm planned on your near future, you need to start thinking about what you are going to pack. Here are the five most important pieces you need on your next resort vacation.
Mixed Print Sundress
Both autumn and resort runways were chock full of crazy mixed prints. From Balenciaga to Proenza Schouler to Erdem, designers were combining florals with polka dots and African batiks. If you are a styling pro, you can try this look out yourself by matching a busy printed blouse with clashing shorts, then topping that look off with a cardigan in a third print. If this is too busy for you, though, you should keep your eye peeled for fun, mixed print sun dresses.
Cropped Sweater

Short Shorts

This year, Marc Jacobs, Christian Dior, and Chanel all sent super short hot pants down the runway. Depending upon your itinerary, you may want a pair of fun denim hot pants to wear to the pool or a pair of satin hot pants to wear out to dinner. Maxi Dress
Maxi dresses are still in, and for your resort vacation you should pack one that will do double duty as a beach cover up and a dinner outfit. Chanel, Max Azria, and Bottega Veneta all had long, romantic, black maxi dresses in their resort shows. Choose an easy to wash, wrinkle free, jersey maxi dress to bring with you to your resort hotel. Your maxi dress will be extremely comfortable during the day, and these dresses are so easy to wear. Yet, at the same time, floor length dresses will always look a bit dramatic, so you'll be able to rock your jersey maxi in the evening, too.
Platforms
Platform sandals look great with every single one of this resort season's hot trends, from hot pants to maxi dresses. You should definitely bring a pair with you on your vacation. Much like the maxi dress, platform sandals can easily be worn with either day or night looks. They are comfortable to walk around in, and you can even wear them to the beach, unlike regular high heels. Choose a pair of platforms in a neutral color so that you can wear them every day.
