Best 3 Zoom Flashlights

By Ted Rollins , last updated January 4, 2012

While most flashlights will provide enough power for you to get by on your next hiking trip, having a zoom flashlight will allow you to get around without flooding an entire landscape with light, giving you the adjustability to desire. You can find great zoom flashlights at a mix of price points, but you may want to splurge on a nicer one if you plan to keep it over multiple trips.

LED Adjustable Focus Zoom Flashlight

If you're planning your hiking trip on a budget, it's hard to deny the appeal of the LED Adjustable Focus Zoom Flashlight from Meritline. This one now sells for just $5, and you can pick up a two-pack for just $8. This simple black flashlight uses environmentally friendly Power LED technology and provides a ton of power, as it can put out 100 lumens; however, if you keep it at that power, the AA battery will only give out about an hour of battery life. This one has a water resistant body and measures 3 3/5 inches long.

Barska 140 Lumen LED Flashlight with Zoom

This is another great deal, but this time on a higher end flashlight. Wayfair carries this Barska model for just $44, which is well below its $105 retail price. This one measures 5 inches long and puts out 140 lumens of light, and has two brightness levels for lower light situations. You'll find a zoom feature on this one too, which lets you twist at the middle to focus your light output.

UranusFire WF-501B 5-Mode 750 Lumens LED Flashlight

This high output flashlight sells for $22 through Brilliant Store. This one combines massive light with low battery output, and has a water resistant body that should make it through fairly tough conditions. It has an aluminum alloy body with high, mid and low settings, as well as a strobe effect for variance. This affordable flashlight has a runtime of 1.5 hours at its medium setting, meaning you may want to carry a few batteries in your pack.
