Chanel has released the summer makeup shades for 2011! The colors are reminiscent of tropical vacation flowers, and there’s a huge variety to choose from for dolling up this season. Here is a guide to the best Chanel makeup shades for the summer.
Les Fleurs d’Ete de Chanel Summer 2011: Limited Edition
Running with their garden inspiration of les fleurs d’ete, Chanel’s 2011 summer makeup theme is “summer flowers,” bringing colors such as Pink Peony and Pensée for the Lèvres ScintillantesGlossimer, including a third and lightest shade of pink, Aurore. The retail price for the limited edition Glossimer is $28.50. For Le Vernis, there are three limited edition nail shades: Mimosa, in a cheery, champagne-splashed yellow, Morning Rose, a warm and solid rose color, and Beige Pétale that likens cool summer sand. The retail price for these shades is $25.00. The Soleil Tan de Chanel Moisturizing Bronzer Powder comes in two sets of four shades: Bronze Corail, which includes light brown, tan, brown and dark salmon, and Bronze Rosé, which includes similar but lighter shades than the Corail with a bit of pink at the end. These limited edition bronzers go for $50.00 each and come with a brush. To give your eyes definition, try Chanel’s Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in the limited edition color Rose Platine. This soft, smudge-proof eyeliner also comes with a built-in sharpener and has a retail value of $29.00. For an evening touchup, lipstick is a must. Among the Rouge Coco Hydrating Crème Lip Colour items are the summer collection shades Sari Doré and Gardénia. These limited edition summer flower shades go for $32.00 each.
Face
For a richer bronzed look, try the Soleil Tan de Chanel Sheer Illuminating Fluid. This oil-free, fragrance free liquid can be applied to even and smooth out skin tone while bringing out radiance as it hydrates and softens your face. It comes in a single color, Sunkissed, and goes for $48.00. Before applying the fluid, be sure to exfoliate gently for a lustrous boost with the Gommage Microperlé Éclat Maximum Radiance Exfoliating Gel. The retail price for this item is $45.00, and its use is encouraged before the Illuminating Fluid application. Chanel’s Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup will give your skin a natural, even complexion while refreshing your face with its water-based formula. It is oil-free, non-comedogenic and dermatologically tested. The makeup comes in 10 different shades and is priced at a retail value of $45.00.
Eyes
Summer makeup is not complete without eyeshadow. Try Chanel’s Les 4 Ombres Quadra EyeShadow, introducing four shades collectively labeled Lillium. It includes four, smudge-proof eyeshadow shades ranging in textures and tones, such as shimmer, satin and matte. These weatherproof eyeshadow shades have a retail value of $57.00. If four is overwhelming, simplify your options with the Ombres Contraste Duo Eyeshadow. The creamy powder eyeshadow compact provides two contrasting shades to give your eyes depth and shape. The 2011 summer shade set is Khaki Discret and is $42.00 for retail purchasers.
It’s hard to find the right mascara for the summer, especially one that won’t smudge or flake, and last all day through the evening. But as a part of the summer collection, Chanel’s Inimitable Waterproof Mascara will fit your summer needs by giving lashes length, curl, volume and separation while also hydrating them with pro-vitamin B5. The mascara goes for a retail value of $30.00 and comes with a special brush designed to bring out the look you want in your eyes.
Fleur de Rose
To keep up with Chanel’s theme, you can match your summer shades according to the Fleur de Rose look. Start by applying Soleil Tan de Chanel’s Bronze Rosé, beginning with the lighter shades, beige and peach, and apply the colors evenly over your entire face. Then move onto pink and touchup your cheekbones and chin. Finally, use deep beige to give your cheekbones structure. Then move onto your eyes with Les Ombres in Lillium. Start with light green on the inner area then apply the dark green starting from the outer area, moving towards the inner corner. A touch of gray can be applied to the lower lashline for accent, and finally, define your eyes’ shape with Stylo Yeux Waterproof eyeliner in Rose Platine. Apply Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer in Pink Peony to finish, with Mimosa or Morning Rose for your nails.
Fleur de Pensée
For a slightly darker palette combination, try the Fleur de Pensée look. This time choose Soleil Tan de Chanel’s Bronze Corail bronzer, and for the eyes apply the Ombres Contraste Duo eyeshadow in Khaki Discret. You can finish off with Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer in Pensée for your lips and Beige Pétale for your nails.
