If you are looking for some financial relief when it comes to paying law school tuition, then you would be wise to look into scholarship opportunities. Law school is a very challenging endeavor to take on, however it is also very rewarding and offers a multitude of career opportunities. Unfortunately, law school is highly expensive and can cause quite the financial burden. This is especially true for students who took out and are still paying back loans for undergraduate studies. There are many scholarships available for law students, and here are a few of the more rewarding opportunities.

Federal Circuit Bar Association

The Federal Circuit Bar Association offers one of the largest financial rewards of any scholarship program. Each year they give out a $10,000 scholarship to a law student who exhibits outstanding academic achievement as well as financial need. The application process is also quite simple, as it requires an essay detailing one’s need as well as their future plans with regard to their law studies. The fund is in place in memory of Giles S. Rich, a former Circuit Judge. The association also awards several smaller scholarships. Please note that you must be currently enrolled in a law program to be considered for these scholarships.

Earl Warren Shearman & Sterling Scholarship

Shearman and Sterling is one of the largest practicing law firms in our country. Their work is widespread across many fields of law including environmental, finance, anti-trust, bankruptcy, intellectual property, and much more. Every year they offer two scholarships each worth $15,000. These scholarships are only available to first year African American students who demonstrate financial need as well as a commitment to a future law profession. This scholarship is renewable every year of study. Finalists for this award are also invited to New York City to meet with Sherman & Sterling and their committee.
