Best Nail Colors for Fall 2011

By Katie Bolin , last updated August 9, 2011

Making the switch from bright summer inspired nail colors to warmer fall shades is as much a necessary transition as the changing color of leaves. You may even have some of these colors from past seasons lying around the house, ready to be fabulously recycled. Here are three nail polish color trends for fall 2011.

Metallics

One of the many nail colors that you will most likely be seeing this fall on the nails of every fashionista is a brassy metallic-like color. The colors debuted at Chanel's Fall 2011 runway were just the right amount of metallic chic, with color names like Graphite, Quartz and Péridot. If Chanel nail polish will break your bank, have no fear. You will most likely be able to find metallic inspired colors from your favorite nail polish brand.

Wine

Another color present in the 2011 nail polish forecast is dark wines. Duri debuted their fall nail polish line, and you can expect many deep burgandys, cabernet sauvignon inspired deep reds and purples. The great thing about this wine-inspired shade for fall 2011 is that it is warm color, perfect to compliment the changing leaves and darker tones that are most often found consistently through every fall season. What's better about this brand is that it's only $5 a bottle, so you can stock up on different shades and change up your nails frequently.

Nude

Nude colors are also perfect for fall 2011. It's a very subtle addition to your nail polish collection, as well as a chic accent to any fall outfit or look. Nude polish colors will be available from many different retailers, so you'll only need to choose your favorite brand and you're set. Although if you have a light skin color that is similar to the nude nail polish colors, make sure you find a color that will look nice with your unique skin coloring.
