The Best New York Salon Spa Locations for Winter Pampering

By Elizabeth Hannigan , last updated November 7, 2011

This winter, make sure to treat yourself and make a visit to one of New York's best salons or spas for some much needed pampering. It's tough to look and feel good during the long, cold winter months. Besides being bundled up under as many layers of clothing as possible, you are probably also suffering from dead, dry skin, a pasty complexion, and several months' worth of hat hair. Around the holidays, you may be feeling extra beat thanks to stress, heavy eating, and excessive partying. Just imagine the wonders that a good scrub, a hot oil massage, and a facial will do for you. A one-day mini vacation at a New York spa could leave you refreshed, glowing, and ready to take on the world. Call ahead to make a reservation at any of these spas and ask about any wintertime specials they might be running if you really want a guilt free indulgence.

All Day

If you need a serious break from seasonal parties, family visits, and holiday shopping but you can't take a real vacation, go for the Spoil Me Rotten day long spa treatment at Haven in Soho. This treatment lasts a minimum of six hours long and includes 80 minutes of facial therapy, a one hour massage, a Haven Hand Renaissance, a Haven Foot Renaissance, a Land of Milk and Honey almond scrub, and lunch. This full day treatment will restore you from head to toe and is very reasonably priced at $470.

Couples

Are there relatives occupying your living room? Have you reached the point where you'll do anything to escape their company? Pretend that you and your spouse have a doctor's appointment or something and book a couple's treatment at the Townhouse Spa. The couple's package, at $900 for the both of you, includes four hours of side-by-side pampering in the spa's couple's suite. You'll begin with an aphrodisiac beverage and dessert sampler before you enjoy a Hammam bath. Next you'll get the massage of your choice, facials, manicures, and pedicures. You'll end with either lunch or dinner from the spa's cafe.

Men

Women are not the only ones who might need some wintertime pampering. Fortunately for men, if you live in New York, there's an entire spa just for you. In fact, there are several. If you are new to men's spa treatments, visit Nickel. This spa is men only and is designed to make you feel comfortable. It looks super modern and high tech inside so that you don't feel like you are doing something girly, and the spa offers a vast array of massages, scrubs, facials, and nail services. They even have an assortment of treatments designed to cure your hangover.

Green

Beauty spas and salons that only use fresh, natural, organic products are a dime a dozen these days. Wink Beauty Bar takes your love for all things green a step further than your average organic spa, however, by performing all of your treatments in a space built with reclaimed wood, lit by special energy efficient lighting. Besides all natural, eco friendly products, you can even request a waterless manicure or pedicure for $10 or $18, respectively. Of course, everything offered at Wink is vegan.

Lunch Break

Maybe you can't take an entire day off to hit a beauty spa, and the prospect of going on a weekend when you know the spa will be packed is not exactly enticing to you. If you are really crunched for time, go for a lunchtime treatment at Euphoria Spa. Euphoria offers a 35 minute Beauty Boot Camp Facial for $85, a 30 minute Heaven Scent massage for $85, and a 30 minute Good Old Fashioned Body Polish for $75. Any of these treatments could be squeezed into your lunch break if you need a quick pick me up in the middle of the week.

Late Night

You know that New York is the city that never sleeps, but it still might surprise you to learn that you can hit a spa 24 hours per day, seven days per week. If you are looking for something fun, relaxing, and legal to do at four in the morning, visit the Spadium. The Spadium is a Korean spa that never closes. They've got a dry sauna, a steam sauna, a bunch of Jacuzzis, and a salt room. For just $110, you can get a full service treatment, including a 90-minute massage and body scrub, plus a facial and milk rinse for the ladies. For just $30, you get 24 uses of all the sauna facilities.
