The Best Rec Room Furniture for Kids

Designing a rec room can be a great deal of fun, especially when you have children. For kids, the rec room is the one room in the house where fun and entertainment is front and center. When outfitting a rec room with your children in mind, one of the most important things to take into consideration is the type of furniture you will be using. Fortunately, there are plenty of different kinds of furniture that can make your rec room a fun and safe environment for children.

Foam Chairs

Foam chairs are ideal for furnishing a rec room. Not only do foam chairs tend to be relatively inexpensive, they are soft enough so that even the busiest children won’t hurt themselves if they run into them. Foam furniture doesn’t just stop at chairs; couches, ottomans and other types of furniture are quite often available in this type of material.

Bean Bag Chairs

While bean bag chairs are popular amongst teenagers, they are often perfect for smaller children as well. Like foam chairs, bean bag chairs are soft and plush, making them safe for children of all ages. The downside to bean bag chairs is that they tend to rip rather easily, in which case the filling can spill out and compromise the structural integrity of the chair. When well taken care of, however a bean bag chair can serve as the perfect addition to your rec room.

Inflatable Furniture

One of the most fun and exciting types of furniture for small children is inflatable furniture. Inflatable furniture is usually constructed out of a durable inflatable plastic (often coated in felt), and is strong enough to withstand quite a bit of use. When improperly taken care of, however, inflatable furniture can pop, which can be difficult and even somewhat to repair.
