Scholarships play a large part in enabling many students to attend college, and medical assisting school is particularly costly, so students who are looking to enter the field can certainly use the financial assistance of a great scholarship. As such, some of the best scholarships for medical assistants are definitely worth looking into.

The Pennsylvania Physician Assistant Foundation Scholarships

The Pennsylvania Physician Assistant Foundation awards hundreds of scholarships to worthy students in Pennsylvania who are studying to become medical assistants each year. Fifteen thousand dollars is awarded to each of these individuals as a way to help them to pay for their tuition, books, and living expenses. For consideration, students must be in the professional period of their course of study and must be studying at an accredited school.

The Maxine Williams Scholarship

The Maxine Williams Scholarship is awarded in amounts of $1,000 to medical assistant students who maintain an overall grade point average of at least 3.0. For consideration, the individual must be enrolled in a program that is accredited by the Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). They should also be in their first quarter or semester or in a postsecondary medical assistant program to qualify.

The Alaska Medical Assistant Society Scholarships

The Alaska Medical Assistant Society (AMAS) awards scholarships in the amount of $500 each to two students who are studying to become medical assistants. The student must demonstrate financial need and must be enrolled in a CAAHEP program. To be a competitive applicant, the student must also excel in his or her studies. Students must also include an essay, proof of their grades, and two recommendations to be considered for the scholarship award.

The Alice Newell Joslyn Medical Fund Scholarships

The Alice Newell Joslyn Medical Fund awards medical assisting students, of Latino descent, scholarships between $500 and $2,000. The student must be pursuing a bachelor of science degree, and he or she should live in San Diego, California or attend a college or university in San Diego to be considered for the award.

The MSMA Scholarship

The MSMA Scholarship is awarded to students who are studying to become medical assistants through the Massachusetts Society of Medical Assistants. To be considered, individuals must have completed at least one semester at their school. They must also maintain a good grade point average, as well as be in generally good standing.
