Pepper Growing Requirements
For best results, Peppers should be planted in an area with enriched soil and access to sunlight at least half of the day, preferably in the morning hours, with afternoon partial shade. Peppers should be planted in the spring after winter's frost has ceased.

When to Fertilize Peppers
Peppers will need consistent fertilization in order to grow and flourish. Peppers will benefit from infusions of phosphorus, magnesium and organic matter to enrich soil. For best results, fertilize newly installed Pepper plants by sprinkling a 5-10-10-composition fertilizer around the base of each new plant. Use no more than one teaspoon of fertilizer per growing plant, and water thoroughly after the application. When blooms begin to form, fertilize Pepper plants again in the same manner. At this time it can also be beneficial to spray growing Pepper plants with a solution of one quarter water into which one teaspoon Epsom salts, which are just magnesium sulfate, has been dissolved. This will help young Pepper plants begin to bear fruit. Applying a layer of organic matter and mulch can also assist in nourishing and fertilizer the soil.
