Best Warm Weather Yoga Apparel for Women

By Selena Kohng , last updated November 4, 2011

When temperatures climb, your hot yoga sessions will get even hotter; to stay comfortable, it's important to wear the best apparel for warm weather. Ideally, you should reach for clothes that breathe and wick moisture from the skin, are form-fitting but not too tight as to restrict movement and raise body temperature, and are comfortable overall. Some types of apparel are better than others; browse below for some suggestions and customer favorites.

Tops

Many women prefer wearing minimal clothing to stay cool in the heat; sport bra tops bare skin while still providing enough coverage so that you can focus on your poses. The Sophia Bra Top from bestselling brand prAna features soft material that wicks away moisture, ample coverage and support, and a crossover front. The straps meet in a halter racerback and the bottom band is wide, meaning that the material doesn't dig in to skin and stays put. If more coverage is what is desired, a breathable, form-fitting camisole is in order. The Organic Cotton Stretch Cami from Gaiam receives rave reviews; features include a built-in shelf bra, adjustable straps, and an organic cotton and spandex blend.

Bottoms

While women often gravitate towards bootcut yoga pants and leggings, numerous other styles fit the bill as well: capris, shorts, or even loose-fitting pants are just as effective. The Perfect Core Knee Pant from bestselling brand Lucy retails for $89. Features include material made with special "eXtreme Body Reforming & Alignment" technology and an exclusive powermax fabric, which compresses to decrease muscle fatigue, has a four-way stretch to accommodate all poses, and wicks moisture quickly. It also features mesh insets in the abdominals and lower back to remind you to keep your core and body aligned. The Nike Dri-Fit pants, available in bootcut, capri, or training shorts, are extremely popular and sold through many online retailers and department stores. The Dri-Fit technology lives up to its name by wicking moisture to the surface where it evaporates.
