Blazers for Petite Women

By Renee Gerber , last updated July 12, 2011

Blazers are a favorite garment, not to mention a staple that is worn at the office by many people. Men are most notably wearers of such pieces of clothing, particularly when they are in a suit. However, women also are quite fond of blazers, and why not? They are available in a wide variety of different styles, colors and materials. You can also find plenty of sizes to suit the frame of women of all sizes and shapes. If you are interested in buying a women's blazer, you can do your shopping at a whole number of places.

One of the best places to start in your shopping quest for a great new petite blazer is your local mall. Chances are, there are several popular department stores there, as well as a few good designer brand stores that sell clothing that is appropriate for the office. Many blazers are available as corporate wear, but there are also styles that can be worn to the office when the company has a business casual dress code.

In general, some good stores to shop for women's petite blazers are JCPenney, Macy's, Kohl's, Filene's Basement, Marshalls and Century 21. Each of these well known department stores have offerings for women in a wide variety sizes. Of course, the petites department is no exception, as stores know that the average height for a woman is five feet four inches -- and that and under is what is considered to be petite. Most of the popular retail stores tend to carry their own designer lines as well, so if you visit a place like Kohl's, you can find some great quality blazers by Sonomoa and Apt. 9, for instance.

Styles will vary, depending on what you are looking for, and in some cases, a blazer might actually come in a suit set with a pair of slacks or a skirt. However, you can also luck out in stores such as Filene's Basement and Marshalls by locating a wonderful blazer that is comes alone, even if it might truly belong to a set. This is because it really is not that uncommon for customers to walk out of these store buying one piece in a set and leaving the other. This is why you can commonly see a solo bikini top or bottom being sold. If this is indeed the case when you go shopping, you might even be able to get the blazer at a considerably lower price, as such items are often offered on a discount. In addition, this is a great way to shop for a blazer as a petite, as the garment might actually be a misses size that just so happens to fit you, even if the pants that were supposed to go with it would have been too long on you.

You can also visit smaller clothing stores in your area, such as Express, Ann Taylor and Banana Republic. All of these designer stores have petite sizes, with great quality blazers for women. Keep in mind that prices might be just a bit higher than those at the cheaper retail stores.
