Build Your Own Wet Bar Cabinet

A wet bar can be a beautiful and useful addition to your home, and you can the cabinets for one on your own. It makes entertaining friends easier and more contained to one room, and a wet bar can be installed either inside or outside your house.

Wet bar cabinets are used to store alcohol and glasses and other drink-making utensils. They are relatively easy to build. Begin by determining the dimensions of your cabinet doors. You can go online and use finished doors as a reference point, or you can just measure your kitchen cabinet doors. Now you will have to purchase plywood to build the body of your cabinet. Measure your allowable depth and height to get the dimensions and cut the plywood to fit using a saw. You will also need trim pieces to cover the rough edges of the plywood.

Drill small holes in the plywood for screws. Apply wood glue to the holes just before screwing them into the plywood. Attach the sides to the bottom first and then fit the top of the cabinet on and secure everything together with the screws. Make sure that your cabinet body is square. Use a miter saw to cut all the front trim and then secure it to the front cabinet edges with small trim nails. Fill in all the nail holes with wood putty, making sure that it is flush with the top of the hole.

Now you have to stain the cabinets the color that you desire. Once you have finished this step and allowed it to dry, you are ready to purchase pre-made doors to match the stain color. If necessary, stain the doors for an exact match. Screw the back of the cabinets to the wall to secure them in place. Position the door and attach the hinges to the inside wall of the cabinet and to the outside of the door and you are finished.
