Whether you’re getting thrown in the air, are on top of a pyramid or are on the sidelines cheering on your team as a cheerleader it is important to have stellar looking makeup. During halftime of during regular cheers a lot of the crowd will be focused on the cheerleading squad so as a group you all want to look put together and fabulous. Aside from the necessary lip gloss you'll want to pay attention to your face and eyes. Here are a few tips to get you ready.
Stating with a perfect base for makeup application is important for day to day makeup as well but is even more paramount for makeup that needs to endure sweat caused by physical activity such as jumping, toe touches and cartwheels. Always make sure you start with a freshly washed faced and follow up with a face moisturizer that has an SPF of at least 15 especially if you will be cheering during the day. Next you need a face primer which serves many purposes. It will minimize pores, hold your makeup in place and increase the staying power of your foundation. Next take a concealer and use it to cover up any eye circles, dark spots or acne. Use your favorite foundation and apply it evenly over your face. Finally place blush on the apples of your cheeks and your face will be complete.
The eyes will be the part of your face where you can have the most fun. During cheerleading events you can get away eyeshadows that you wouldn’t be able to pull off otherwise like crazy colors and glitter. As with your face you should use an eyeshadow primer over your eyelids. The primer will serve a similar function and make the eyeshadow pop, keep it from running all over the place and make it last longer. For the colors you can consider using your school colors. Team colors like purple and gold, black and yellow, green and white or even red and black can create their own interesting versions of smoky eyes. Simply apply the lighter color on the inner corner of the eyelid closer to the tear duct and the darker color on the outer corner of the eye. Make sure to blend carefully so that the colors run seamlessly together so that there is no harsh division between the two. If your school colors clash too much then pick one color and apply it in a gradient. For example if you choose blue start with light blue in the corner and gradually apply darker shadows until you get to navy in the outer corner. Go crazy with sparkles if you’d like. For liner you should go with a liquid liner that will create crisp, clean, perfect lines. For added oomph glue on a pair of false lashes, curl them with your own lashes then apply two coats of mascara to fuse them to your own. Follow all these tips and you’ll be ready for a full night of team spirit!
