Clothes Hanger Crafts Ideas

You can make crafts using clothes hangers that you probably have way too many of from the dry cleaner. Whether you need a rainy day activity for kids with cabin fever, or a homemade gift, all you will need is some wire clothes hangers and a few supplies you probably already have in your home.

Make a Card or Photo Holder

This wire hanger craft is easy and functional. Display birthday cards, holiday cards or photos in a few simple steps. All you need is your hanger, ribbon, glue, scissors and tape or paper clips. You will wrap the hanger with ribbon to cover the wire and make it look more festive. Now cut about 15 lengths of ribbon. Varying sizes will look cool, and glue them onto the bottom and top of the hanger. From the hanging ribbon strips, clip or tape on your cards or photos and display from a picture hook on the wall.

Make a Kite Mobile

This concept works well with kites or anything else your child might like to make such as butterflies, flowers or animals. In addition to a wire hanger, gather yarn, construction paper, glue, and paint, markers, crayons, glitter, stickers or anything else you may have around the house to decorate with. Now make your kites by cutting out six construction paper diamond shapes in different colors. Varying the sizes of the kites works well for this idea. Decorate the kites with your child. The yarn is added as the tale of each kite. You can staple or glue it on. The kites are ready to be affixed to the hanger with another piece of yarn. Hang the kite mobile from the ceiling with a hook or add a loop of yarn to the hook of the hanger and staple or tack it to the ceiling.
