The Coolest Fall Jackets for Kids

By Ted Rollins , last updated September 22, 2011

Some parents are understandably cautious about spending hundreds of dollar on a cool fall jacket for their kids, as there's a good chance that once the next season comes around, the little one won't fit in the jacket or will simply not like it anymore. However, every once in a while it's important to treat your kid to something he or she wants, in the same way everyone needs to be spoiled just a bit. In the following, you'll learn about some of the coolest fall jacket styles for both boys and girls.

Jacket Styles for Boys

For boys, the Quiksilver Traxel Jacket may be a top stylish and affordable option. The jacket comes in either Black or Sand and has a farmer's jacket style with a point collar and front utility pockets. The Traxel is made of a 65% polyester and 35% cotton blend and has a side entry pocket at the hem, a left chest flap pocket with a hidden snap closure and a cool blue printed nylon lining.

For boys asking for a collegiate style jacket, get the Burnham Wool Blend Jacket from Ralph Lauren. This $175 jacket has a dark navy body with the classic letter jacket style body, featuring a striped collar, hem and cuffs, a button down front with patch pockets, a bold Ralph Lauren circular logo on the chest and an 80% wool and 20% nylon body with a 100% polyester body.

For a stylish jacket for the littler boys out there, get the London Fog Boys' 2-7 Faux Fur Lined Zip-Up Jacket with Hood from Lord and Taylor. This $110 near-black navy jacket has a detachable hood and a full front zip with a button flap, embroidered patch pockets and a fake fur lining.

Lastly, if you want your little boy to be wearing a high end designer jacket this fall, get the Burberry Zip Jacket, which sells for either $125 or $145 depending on the size. This athletic style jacket has a light navy body, a tan check panel on the back, ribbed trimming, a stand collar, and a full front zip down. The jacket also has a tonal equestrian logo on the left chest and goes well with the brand's dark denim jeans for boys.

Jacket Styles for Girls

Don't think that designers have forgotten about the little girls out there. Quiksilver's offerings for girls outdo their boys designs, particularly in regard to their Giggles Hybrid Jacket, which sells for only $50. This one is a combination sweater and coat with a 100% French terry cotton body stuffed with a quilted jersey lining and Sherpa trim at the hood. The jacket has a hidden zipper and pom-poms attached to the hood. The jacket also has a Native American tribal style black, white and pink pattern with the Quiksilver heart logo incorporated, which works surprisingly well.

For a stylish fall jacket best suited for older kids, get the Ella Moss Duncan Jacket, which goes for only $88. This military jacket has epaulets at the front and shoulder, a mandarin collar, a misaligned hem and ruching at the back.
