Candles are an ancient and beautiful home decor must that can turn a room into a relaxing paradise, and with a few creative ideas, you can turn your home into one. Here are a few quick and easy projects for the introductory home owner or crafter to make your candles hip, ethnic and stylish.
The first candle trick is the tea light boat ride. Find yourself a pretty decorative bowl, at least a few inches deep and as wide as possible. Simply fill it with water and put it in a place you want to spice up! Then, get a hold of a set of tea lights. Tea lights are a candle lover's sweetest dream. They are small candles that burn for about 4 hours that come in small aluminum, watertight cups. You can find tea lights in bags as big as 50 to 100. Once you have them, gently place them in the water and light them. The dynamics of the heat and the currents of air in the room will keep them moving around to give the effect of a slow-moving river!
An easy candle decoration to put together yourself at short notice for your late night tea party is the mirror candle. Amble into your local hardware store (one that sells glass and mirror glass) and have them cut you some small mirror glass pieces. If you don't want to do that, just use any old mirrors or make-up kit mirrors you have around. Get some votive candles, or any other kind of candle and place them directly in front of the mirrors. You will see the candle reflecting all over the tables and walls of the room. If you are a serious crafter, you can even use blank CDs to make candle reflectors. This is best done with deep clear jars (such as rotary jars) to use as candle holders, since you can lean the mirror up inside the jar.
