Creative Swim Coverup Ideas

Back in the day, the typical swim coverup was a colored piece of fabric that was wrapped around the waist. However, times have changed, and so have the styles. Now, there are countless ways to spice up your beachwear.

Tunics

Tunics are extremely popular, especially those with an exotic touch. You can purchase them sheer or solid, decorated or plain. It offers that added bit of coverage when you've had enough time in the sun. Victoria's Secret offers some great tunic cover-ups, ranging from sheer to one shouldered. There is a look and color for everyone.

Crop Tops

If you aren't look for any bottom coverage, like the type you would get with a longer tunic or wrap, crop tops are a fun way to cover up your shoulders while still looking beach ready. They show off the figure while concealing the shoulders and can add a fun and flirty touch to your bathing suit. Forever21.com offers a great selection, including plain crop tops to ones decorated with words and designs.

Dresses

Lightweight dresses also make for great coverups. Some dress styles feel a bit too exposing when worn on a regular basis, but when paired with a bathing suit and a pair of flip flops, they are suddenly transformed into acceptable beachwear. These types of coverups work great because it makes it easy to go from the beach to the streets without feelings as if you are dressed inappropriately.

You can make a coverup out of almost anything. The key is that it is easy to take on and off. No one wants to be in a complicated get up when they are lounging in the sand or walking up and down the beach. Keep it simple. For an added touch, try and match it with your bathing suit for a put-together look!
