Even though ripped jeans are stylish, and you can buy jeans that are already ripped on purpose, you may want to occasionally fix a tear. When you love a special pair of jeans and they rip, you have many choices of how to fix them. Some ideas for fixing ripped jeans include patching them, sewing them by hand, or using a sewing machine to close the tear or etch a special design.
You can incorporate your own personal style into fixing your ripped jeans with a decorative patch. Local fabric stores have patches you can purchase, or get some material you love and cut your own shape and style of patch. There are beads, lace, jewels and other decorations that can be added to your patch to make it especially unique. You may have a bedazzler or sewing machine that can attach your beads or jewels to the patch to make it extra special. Then just sew the patch over the tear in your jeans and problem solved.
Another way to fix your ripped jeans is to sew them by hand. Fixing a tear in jeans can be difficult if you don’t know how to sew. By hand, you can just get a needle, choose a thread color, and thread the needle. Start by turning the jeans inside out. Begin at one end of the tear and run the needle through both side of the tear in close stitches until you reach the end. Then, tie off the thread and turn the jeans back with the inside in, and you will barely be able to tell they were ripped. You can also add larger stitches or bright color thread if you want to make a design that will be visible.
If you have a sewing machine then you can quickly sew the tear in your jeans. Thread the sewing machine and bobbin with the same color thread, start at one end of the tear and sew until you reach the end. Make sure to sew from the inside of the jeans so that the stitches don’t show on the outside. Any of these methods will help you fix ripped jeans.
