Football Team Fundraising Ideas

By Jason Marshall , last updated December 19, 2011

High school football teams have been conducting fundraisers for decades. Everyone is familiar with the typical weekend car washes and candy bar sales, so it might be best to come up with some different fundraising ideas to set your team out from the crowd. There are dozens of creative fundraising ideas that should help generate the money you need to get your team to the next game with the equipment they need. Keep reading for a few fun and creative fundraising ideas.

Football Frenzy

This is a popular and fun fundraising opportunity that gives donors the chance to win cash prizes. Teams sell booklets of ten tickets. Each ticket represents a week of the NFL season and printed on each ticket is the name of three teams. It will be a different three teams each week and no other book sold will have the same combination on the same week. All you have to do is add the total points scored by each of the three teams. The ticket holder with the highest combined score wins a cash prize. Green Bee Fundraising, the company that administers the competition, will compute the stats and announce the winner so there won’t be extra weekly work on your part. There will be a winner each week and ticket holders can win more than once.

Entertainment Book Fundraiser

It’s always best to sell things that people actually want. You will always have those parents who’ll buy up their children’s fundraising products no matter what it is, but imagine how much more you would make if you were selling something most people want, rather than boring wrapping paper. The Entertainment Book is a collection of coupons people can use for restaurants, movies, groceries, shopping, dry cleaning, travel, among many others. And teams that sells these books can make up to a 50 perfect profit on each sale. It won’t be hard to sell people on over $15,000 in savings in each book.

Online Fundraising

Going door to door or setting up a table outside your local supermarket is a great way to reach your community, but your access will still be limited. If you take your fundraising online, however, you can reach people not only in your community, but all over the United States. Efundraising.com will set up with an online store in which patrons can purchase magazine subscriptions, restaurant gift certificates, jewelry, and the always popular cookie dough. Another reason online selling is great is you don’t have to buy the merchandise up front and run the risk of having cases of unsold candy bars at the end of the year. You can also start email campaigns and run online competitions where participants can win prizes, like gift certificates and even cash.

These have only been a few ideas for raising money for your football team. You can always supplement these ideas with traditional candy sales and car washes to bring in even more money.
