By Raphael Ginsburg , last updated November 7, 2011

While some may think the polka dot is a long antiquated style that was good to have been forgotten years ago, in fact it's still a pattern that many designers love; incorporating polka dots into their collections year after year.  Here are a few great suggestions of where you can find some fresh new styles of polka dot patterns on some of this seasons skirts and where you can buy them today.

Forever 21

If you want a new fall skirt that won't break the bank, consider the Forever 21 Maxi Polka Dot Skirt, which sells for only $23 in stores and online. This one comes in a dark red with cream polka dots all over the body and is made of a lightweight woven polyester shell. The skirt is partially lined in a soft polyester and rayon mix and features a bit of top pleating and an elasticized waist. The maxi skirt measures nearly 40 inches from waist to hem, and Forever 21 styles it with animal print wedges and tights.

Net A Porter

Unlike some of the more traditional online stores, Net A Porter keeps a number of great polka dot skirts on hand, including two from Marc Jacobs. The Marc Jacobs Polka Dot Wool Fleece Pencil Skirt goes for $995 and is a high waisted black and white skirt. It has a black border with a white base and allover black polka dots on is stretch wool and fleece blend. It also has an elasticized waistband and a short back vent with a back zipper as well. Net A Porter thinks you'd do well to pair this one with leather boots and a white blouse.

For a longer polka dot skirt from Marc Jacobs, check out the Polka Dot Wool Blend Maxi Skirt, which now sells for $1,400. This number has a deep black wool blend starchy body made of 99% virgin wool and just a bit of rubber. You'll find that it's covered with a subtle metallic polka dot print and is fully lined in a soft silk and lycra mix. The skirt is high wasted and has exposed seam details with a fishtail hem. With this one, Net A Porter recommends wearing pumps to lengthen the leg and a directional top for a high end style.

Net A Porter also carries the Stella McCartney Polka Dot Tulle Skirt, which can be yours for $885. This one has a black sheer tulle body with opaque polka dots, a black elasticized waistband and a blush slip underneath. It's in a simple pull on style and has a polyester body with an acetate and silk lining. This retro skirt will go well with an oversized coat, at least according to Net A Porter.

Neiman Marcus

This department store has some cool polka dot skirts as well, and many of them are much less expensive than your options at Net A Porter. The Addison Story Abstract Polka Print Skirt goes for $112 retail but now sells at Neiman for $39. The skirt comes in a taupe combo silk georgette and has a banded waistline, pleating through the waist and a relaxed fit. The hem comes to the mid thigh, and the skirt also has two front pockets. This one has an odd polka dot print, with mismatched sized circles for a cool modern look.

Lastly, take a gander at the Aquilano Rimondi Bi-Fabric Mixed Print Skirt, which can now be yours for a little less than $500, which sounds like a lot but it's almost 70% off its retail price. The skirt has a black and white polka dot chiffon body with a double layered look, with a parietal lime and white pencil skit on top. It goes high on the waist and has a side tie on its asymmetrical body, which also has a long front slit.
