Fun Ways to Celebrate the NBA All Star Game at Home

Looking for fun ways to celebrate the NBA All-Star Game at home? Seeking an exhilarating way to enjoy the epic clash of East vs. West? A way to properly bask in this amalgamation of the NBA’s best for a showcase showdown as equally exhilarating as that at the end of The Price is Right? Then look no further.

There are too many all-stars to list those that will be showing their chops at this spectacle of an event. It is therefore of utmost importance that the conditions you provide for you and your guests is of maximum comfort level for doing one basic thing: viewing professional athletes do their job extraordinarily well on television. There are several significant factors that will allow for this environment.

Food

The NBA All Star Game is on a Sunday night. People tend to use Sunday as an excuse to eat for an entire day without moving. If these people somehow made it to an NBA All Star Game party, they will undoubtedly expect a feast of hot snacks and pickings that will appease their appetite for the duration of this event. You should provide the standards: buffalo chicken wings (with ranch dressing), nachos (with guacamole and/or dip), and a small assortment of vegetables for no one to touch. Ideally, you could also provide a mountainous tray of Italian subs with toothpicks holding them together. If you have control over it, toothpicks with twirled colored paper at one end are always a classy choice; toothpicks with little American flags at one end are also fully appropriate and highly encouraged.

Television

If the potential host doesn’t have a large television, then this “host” should find another party to organize – maybe one that doesn’t require the best entertainment system available. The NBA All-Star Game is a spectacle; a large, preferably plasma, high-definition television with ample speakers will convey this TNT-charged sporting event at the appropriate level of viewing pleasure.

Seating

Any partygoer can agree that lack of comfortable seating in a host’s party area is a huge disaster. This disaster is magnified at an NBA All Star Game party. A large couch is obviously the solution to this problem. If a large couch with reclining capability and foot resting action is not available, there must be ample seating in an organized fashion around the television viewing area. Folding chairs will have to do if the budget is tight. Too often is this factor overlooked, and too many parties have suffered this fatal blunder – think about standing awkwardly around acquaintances with nowhere to park the luggage. It’s enough to ruin a party.

Betting

Perhaps there are a few gamblers scattered amongst the crowd. A simple pool with all players chipping in for either West or East will bring this viewing experience to a new level. High stakes aren’t necessary, especially for those with minimal knowledge of the players and/or the game in general, though betting on one side will supply the excitement and outward bursts of both grief and joy.

Beer

It’s difficult to imagine a scenario involving gambling and the NBA All Star Game without a dash of alcohol to tie it all together. The alcohol of choice here is beer. One should anticipate the number of guests, gauge drinking habits, and supply the appropriate quantity of cold brew. The NBA All Star Game is a Bud Light in bottles event, though the occasional Heineken, or even Land Shark, will spice up the cooler.

Mini Hoop

This is the cherry. A mini basketball hoop mounted on a door or wall and 1-2 mini plastic basketballs floating around will invoke childlike enthusiasm for every guest that enters the room. Again, a drinking game may be surmised here, which will match the intensity of the game on TV as the night goes on. The mini hoop is a sure thing in this world of uncertainty. Clear all lamps, glass objects, and anything breakable from the room.

Most importantly, you should just try to have fun; after all, the players in the NBA All Star Game don’t take it seriously, and neither should you. Enjoy the show.
