Game Room Furniture Ideas

Choosing furniture for a game room is a fun task, but you might be short on ideas. The most important step is to reflect on the tastes of those who will be using your game room, and to think about the things they will likely be doing, like lounging, playing games and eating.

Seating

It's important to have adequate seating in a game room, and you want it to be comfortable. If kids will be using your game room, consider buying a few bean bags. Sectional sofas are a great way to seat many guests comfortably. If you'll be using your game room to watch a lot of movies or sports, you may want to invest in comfortable home theater seating. Hammocks or hammock-like chairs that suspend from the ceiling are an unusual and fun way to make your guests comfortable.

Snacking

Whether you snack occasionally or host potlucks, you and your guests will probably be eating in your game room. Consider installing a bar or buying a portable drink cart if you host adults. A mini fridge will keep drinks cold. Kids like having a special place to sit, so if you have little ones, think about buying them a table of their own—plastic picnic benches are fun and easy to clean.

Entertaining

Let's not forget the most important part of a game room—entertainment! Though pool tables are a popular option for game rooms, why not try something different? Ping pong tables are fun and inexpensive. If you've got a decent budget and are looking to go all out, air hockey and shuffleboard are other great game tables that usually only see the likes of arcades. For rooms where lots of activity takes place, consider investing in a projector and a pull-down screen to watch movies. You'll save space and won't have to worry about damaging an expensive TV.
