We love our pets like family, but we don't love the pet hair they leave behind, especially in the springtime, so getting rid of it is key. It's an endless battle, keeping your home (and clothes) hair and fur free.
The most efficient way to remove pet hair from clothes and furniture is also the most tedious and time consuming way, using a tape roller. Tape picks up pet hair and fur like magic, but it often takes several layers of tape and several rolls over the area, to remove hair completely. Upholstered furniture is especially frustrating for hair removal; you could go through an entire roll of tape just on a sofa pillow! But, with patience, you can have a clean sofa with no sign of pet hair.
Continuous vacuuming works, and there are special vacuum parts manufactured specifically for pet hair removal. If you have a pet, it's a good idea to vacuum at least every other day, to keep your home free of pet hair and any bugs your pet may pick up outside. Mop your floors daily, to pick up hairs, as well.
Continual grooming also helps keep the hair and fur shedding to a minimum. Just remember to brush your dog or cat outdoors, if possible, so that you don't end up with all the flyaway hairs finding furniture and clothing to attach itself to, in the process.
Wet rubber gloves work very well to pick up fur and hair - just rub your gloved hand over the carpet or sofa (anything with a weave) and you'll see it comes off, almost peels off, with ease, as fur attracts fur.
There are new products on the market for pet hair removal, specifically made by 3M. These products incorporate the rubber glove technique for furniture, the tape roller for clothes, and a bristle product for carpet. They work quite well, but you can just use the rubber gloves you own, or a broom, for the same results.
