Gift Ideas for a Candlemaker
Are you looking for a gift idea for the creative candle maker in your life? As it goes for anyone with a passionate hobby, making a gift of supplies is always welcome. Pursuing a creative hobby can get expensive. Or perhaps you are looking to supply someone just embarking on candle making as a hobby.
For the Beginner
First, determine the experience level of your intended gift recipient. If the person is just beginning, then a starter kit is the perfect present. It will contain all the necessary items to create candles, including:
- A pot for melting and pouring
- Blocks of wax
- Scents
- Dyes
- Wicks
- A thermometer
For the Expert
For the more experienced candle maker, you do not want to purchase one of these kits as she or he will presumably already own all these basic supplies. Instead, look into purchasing more of their favorite supplies or else select specialty items that they are not likely to own already. Look for unusual scented oils to fill out the candle maker’s supply of scents. Most candle makers will have basics like vanilla or apple – but what about hyacinth or wasabi? Make sure that you are buying oils specifically designated for candle making so they’ll burn properly.
Also look for scents that remind the recipient of a happy memory or times you have shared together. Christmas scents are always popular, like cinnamon or fresh greens. Or look for scents of the seashore to remind someone of that week you spent at the beach.
Another item any candle maker you know will appreciate molds. Again, look for ones that are more exotic. The candle maker probably already has simple votive molds, but a star-shaped pillar mold could be a welcome addition to their supplies. Bigger molds tend to be more expensive, so your friend may not have as many of those.
Select some oils or molds and package them up in a bag or basket adorned with a bow. As an added bonus, you may in turn receive a gift of hand-made candles one day!
