Great Accessories for an Extreme Ultimate Frisbee Player

There are a number of great accessories for an extreme ultimate frisbee player, as the sport of ultimate frisbee is still very loose in what is officially allowed as far as apparel on the playing field goes. Ultimate frisbee is a surprisingly involved and athletic game when played at the higher levels. Players spread out on a sixty-four meter rectangular pitch with two opposing end zones and must throw a frisbee to their teammates in order to get the frisbee into each end zone and score. They may not run with the frisbee and may only advance it by throwing it, making it a little like football, a little like basketball and a game unto itself. Check out some of the accessories that extreme ultimate frisbee players might employ to help their performance on the field, listed below.

Brightly Colored Headbands

While a brightly colored headband will only push the stereotype of what people may think about ultimate frisbee players, it is also a very helpful accessory when playing the game. It will make certain players who may be open for a pass from other players on the playing field stand out. So players who are all on the same team wearing the same colored jerseys can distinguish themselves with different colored headbands, allowing passes to be made to players who are better at different parts of the game. For example, one player who can throw great long passes should be wearing one colored headband while another player who has the best hands on the team should be wearing another colored headband. This way, during the heat of the game, these two can find each other much more easily and have a better opportunity to score.

Receiver Gloves

As so much of the ultimate frisbee game is about catching the frisbee to advance it from one spot on the playing field to the other, receiver gloves that have a slightly sticky surface on their palms are ideal, allowing ultimate frisbee players to catch the frisbee more often. The one downside to this playing accessory is that it may affect how accurately you can throw to your teammates. If this is the case, try wearing only one glove on your non-throwing hand, as you can catch a frisbee very easily with just one hand. Then you can lift your gloved palm in the air while they play your favorite Grateful Dead song after the game is over. Power to the extreme ultimate frisbee players!

Turf Shoes

As you will be playing ultimate frisbee on a grass field and traction is key, having shoes that allow you to plant and not slip on the grass and dirt is incredibly important. However, you don't want shoes that have long cleats, as this can cause you to injure yourself if you plant and turn too abruptly. So invest in some soccer shoes with small cleats or football turf shoes that will allow you to have traction on the grassy surface, but not dig into the ground, which could result in an injury. One day, when extreme ultimate frisbee is finally recognized as a real sport, Nike will create a line of these specially designed shoes. We're sure of it.
