Great Cultural Events in Miami This Summer

Miami/Bahamas Goombay Festival
Early in the summer there is the Miami/ Bahamas Goombay Festival from June 2nd to June 5th. This is one of the largest black heritage festivals in the United States. It boasts a large variety of food, arts, and crafts for sale. If you enjoy Caribbean song and dance and bright colorful costumes this will be a great festival to check out.
Film Festivals
There are a series of film festivals that are hosted in Miami. At the beginning of July, the 6th through the 9th, there is the American Black Film Festival. Films, documentaries, shorts, features and unreleased black films from around the world will be featured. From August 19th through August 27th the Brazilian Film Festival takes over the Colony Theatre of Miami. At this festival, short and feature films compete for the coveted Crystal Lens Award.
XXVI International Hispanic Theater Festival
For theater lovers, the XXVI International Hispanic Theater Festival is worth checking out. It lasts from July 7th through July 24th. Prestigious theater companies from Latin America, the United States, and Europe will be performing. This year there will be a special emphasis on Chile and its contributions to Latin American society.
International Ballet Festival of Miami
Near the end of the summer, August 26th through September 18th there is the International Ballet Festival of Miami. Ballet companies come from around the world to perform at this esteemed event.
