As the summer comes to an end, why not celebrate these last sunny days with a garden party in your backyard? A garden party theme is sophisticated and fun at the same time and everyone (both adults and kids alike) will surely love it.
If you have a garden in your backyard, set up a table for your guests near it. Use plates, cups, napkins and, if you can find them, utensils with flowers on them. If you cannot find flower utensils, you can put the utensils in a mini terracotta pot for your guests to grab from. Have big bouquets of flowers in pretty vases or terracotta pots on the tables. An alternative idea to having fresh flowers on the table is to have fruit bouquets with the fruit in the shape of flowers on the tables. You can cut the fruit into shapes yourself and serve it in a carved watermelon basket or buy the fruit bouquets from Edible Arrangements. You can also add flowers petals or flower shaped candies to the table for an added touch of cuteness. For a more formal look have flower candles or candles in flower candle holders on the table.
Garden parties are often affiliated with tea, so it might be a good idea to serve tea sandwiches and have an array of tea for your guests to drink. Types of tea sandwiches to make are watercress, smoked salmon and cucumber, egg salad and chicken salad. You can even cut the sandwiches into flower shapes. For dessert have flower shaped cookies and cakes. You can ask your female guests to come wearing hats on the garden party invitation. Then it will really feel like a formal English garden tea party. Do not forget to buy party favor gifts. You can give your guests a packet of flower seed, fresh flowers from your flower garden or fresh vegetables from your vegetable garden.
