There's no better way to celebrate the Halloween season with your kids than by hosting a party, and that means you will need the perfect spooky treats. With Halloween right around the corner, it's time to find the best costume and gear up for trick-or-treating with your kids.  In order to throw a fun and festive Halloween Party, you'll need themed decorations, costumes, candy, and of course, fun and Halloween-themed treats! Make Halloween an interactive holiday by making easy and creative treats with your kids before the party.

Spooky Cupcakes

Every child loves cupcakes, especially when they're themed for the holidays! Make cupcakes for Halloween using your favorite cupcake recipe, whether they're homemade or out of the box. The decoration of the cupcake is what is important for festive treats! For a "batty" cupcake, frost your cupcakes with chocolate frosting as the base. Then, use M&Ms or another chocolate candy for two eyes, and a larger piece of candy for the bat's nose. Then, create wings for the bat by cutting a cookie in half and placing the two halves on either side of the cupcake. Cut triangle ears out of a piece of chocolate, and place on top of the eyes. Finish your creation off by using white frosting for fangs. For "ghost" cupcakes, make chocolate cupcakes and frost with chocolate frosting. Stick an oval shaped cookie, like a Nutter Butter, in the middle of the cookie and frost with vanilla frosting. Draw a spooky face on the ghost with frosting, or use small candy like mini chocolate chips to create a face for the ghost.

Caramel Apples

Caramel apples have always been a favorite for autumn, especially for Halloween. It's easy to make your own caramel apples, and can be a fun activity for you and your children to do together. All you need is wrapped caramels, milk, and apples. Simply microwave the caramels with 2 tablespoons of milk, and stir until smooth. Take a craft popsicle stick and stick one in each apple. Let the mixture cool, and then roll each apple in the caramel until it is coated. Let cool on a buttered baking sheet. Refrigerate until the caramel is slightly hardened, and coat with whatever candy you choose. You can even use candy to turn the apple into a Caramel Apple Monster, by giving it a face, hair, and anything else you choose.

Themed Cookies

Cookies can also be a fun treat for your kids, especially if you decorate them with fun Halloween designs. Make or buy a batch of sugar cookies, and frost them with vanilla icing. Then, use different colored icing to create festive designs, like spider webs, spiders, witches, and ghosts. To add to your frosted cookies, use holiday candy such as candy corn to create additional designs. Halloween is a great holiday to get together with your family and make some easy but fun treats for kids. Whether you're having a party or want to hand out delicious snacks to trick-or-treaters, get creative and make your own this year!
