If you are the athletic type who enjoys sports and lives in a house, you may want to install a basketball hoop in your backyard. You will need a few tools, some patience, and of course, skill, to do this, but in the long run, it will be worth it. You will enjoy years of fun and exercise shooting hoops with the kids in your yard.
You can decide if you want to install a pole as an elevation for the hoop or not. If you have a garage, you may want to just drill your basketball baseboard up over its door. Along with the electric drill, you will need a ladder, wrench, nuts and bolts to secure it.
Have a friend or family member help you in the task. You will want them to hold onto the ladder when you climb up to the top of your garage with the baseboard and tools. Consider having that person hold the tools in a bag so that they can easily hand them to you when you need them.
Secure the basketball rim to the backboard first and foremost. You will find our holes on its base and one on the backboard that will indicate where the two pieces should connect. You will then need to drill four holes and then attach the rim to the baseboard by slipping bolts inside and tightening nuts on their ends with a wrench.
Once you are finished attaching the basketball rim to the backboard, you will want to secure the entire contraption to the area above the door on your garage. You will need to drill at least four holes on each corner of the backboard and seal them to the garage with screws. Use the drill, hammer or screwdriver to accomplish this. Make sure the backboard is screwed on tightly.
As a final touch, attach a net to the rim, and then, you are ready to enjoy playing a few games of basketball!
