How to Cover Up Dark Under Eye Circles

If you’ve ever had a sleepless night then you’re familiar with dark under eye circles, and might want to know how to cover them up. They instantly age you, make you look tired and feel self-conscious. The good news is that correcting them is fast and easy and will trick everyone into thinking that you’ve had plenty of beauty sleep.

It is important to keep in mind that the skin around the eyes is thin and sensitive so you should be gentle when working with this area. Be very careful not to tug or pull on the skin excessively. The first step to applying any makeup is to wash your face, apply a moisturizer with SPF and a makeup primer. The primer will smooth out any wrinkles, even out your skin tone and create a nice canvas for concealer and makeup.

Next pick a corrective concealer with yellow or orange pigment. Concealers with these undertones work best for combating the bluish/ purple tones of dark circles because they are complementary colors and will block the dark circles from showing. Apply a drop of the concealer to the back of your hand to help warm it up and make it easier to apply to your delicate eye skin. With the tip of your ring finger gently dab the concealer under your eyes and cover the dark area.

At this point you will have a yellow or orange spot on your face, which is actually a good sign. Next apply a concealer that is one to two shades lighter than your foundation over the corrective concealer. This will make your eyes look brighter and make your skin look healthier. Finally apply the rest of your foundation and set everything with powder. You will notice that your dark under eye circles are completely gone and that your face looks fresh and radiant.
