Many women wonder about how they can make their eyes look sexier with their makeup. We all know about the smoky eye technique by now, but there is a lot more to creating an exotic, sexy look than that. There are many different techniques you can use to create the effect you have in mind. Sometimes, a little experimentation goes a long way, and it can end up being very sexy indeed!
Prior to applying your eye makeup, you might want to consider putting on moisturizer. This can create a basis for your ensuring that your eye shadow stays in place for a longer period throughout the day. It also provides a protective layer for your eyes and can even ensure that foundation will stay on your face evenly if you wear that kind of makeup.
Select your eye makeup colors. This includes all of the above—your eye shadows, eyeliner and mascara. Most women who apply eye shadow use at least two, sometimes even three different shades that nicely complement one another and, hopefully, her skin tone as well. Make sure the colors work for you. The best shades to create a particularly sexy look tend to be more of the neutral variety, such as browns, grays, beiges, taupes and wines.
Apply a lighter colored eye shadow first, to your eyelid. This color serves to bring out your eyes and to highlight them. You will then want to apply a darker color above that, which will accentuate your lid below it. Avoid applying this shade to the entire remainder of your eye area, as you will want a lighter color in that area, but one that is different from what is on your lids.
The darker eye shadow should meet the light one at the outside corners of your lids. You can also use a brush with which to effectively blend the two shadow colors for a more natural look. Also, keep in mind that shiny, slightly sparkly colors tend to work better than matte, as they are longer lasting.
Add another light color above the dark. Apply it in a sweeping manner, and you can even brush it slightly into your eyebrows. Use the blending brush to evenly blend this color as well.
Next, move on to the application of your eyeliner. Black and brown tends to be the most popular colors, and regardless of which you use, make sure to create a nice arc on your upper lid. For an extra sexy look, give the liner a slight upward curve at the outer corner. Make a thinner line with the liner at the bottom lid as well, and you can end your sweep by meeting the top liner for an extra exotic, almost Cleopatra effect.
Some women use a mascara curler, while others do not. If you use one, do so prior to the application of your mascara. Just as with eyeliner, most women tend to use mascara that is black or brown, which is of course more natural. To avoid getting a clumpy application, wipe off the brush before added two layers to your lashes. If your lower lashes are particularly thin and small, you may want to forego adding mascara to them. Otherwise, simply sweep the brush across with extremely light back and forth movements.
