Knowing how to install a new washing machine is easy if you are putting it into an established laundry area of your home. Otherwise you will have to run plumbing and possibly electricity to the location. Here you will learn how to install your new washing machine.
Begin by assessing the requirements for the location for your new washing machine. If there is an existing laundry sink you can simply run the drain hose from the washer into the sink. If not, the washer will have to drain into a standpipe, which will have to be installed to code which is usually eighteen to thirty inches above the trap. If you have to install a standpipe, it is best to buy one with a built in trap.
You will have to install a shut off valve where the hoses from the washing machine connect to the water pipes. This will prevent flooding in the event that hose breaks or gets loose.
Now you can screw the hoses into the connections at the back of your new washing machine. The hoses should be marked hot and cold and make sure to attach them to the corresponding connections on your washing machine. Now connect the hoses to the hot and cold water pipe connections at your wall. Make sure that the shut off valves are installed at the point of connection.
Next you can push your washing machine into place. The machine should have two levelers at the front footings. Using a level adjust the levelers until the machine is perfectly level.
Now attach the drainage hose to the sink or install it to the standpipe. Turn on the water supply valves and check everything carefully for leaks. If there are any leaks at the connections, tighten them accordingly until the leaks cease.
Now you can plug in your machine to the electric outlet and you are ready to do a wash.
