The least vegetarian-friendly of all Italian foods—the meat lover’s pizza—is designed for insatiable meatheads, and making an amazing one is simpler than one might think. While most of us have probably ordered such a pizza before, it’s much more fun to make one in the privacy of your own home. There are often two takes on the carnivorous classic.
Preheat your oven to 400 F. Take a large skillet over medium heat and cook your beef and green peppers. Add your pizza sauce, pepperoni and olives and lower to a simmer. Separately, combine your biscuit mix, egg and milk, mixing until blended. Place this at the bottom of a greased 11” by 7” baking dish. Pour your sauce on top of this and sprinkle your mozzarella over the top. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Let it stand for a few minutes before digging in.
Coat a frying pan with your olive oil and place over medium heat. Cook your sausages for 10 minutes and let cool. Then slice them thinly. Preheat your oven to 400 F. Line your baking tray with paper and put your premade crust on the tray. Spread your barbecue sauce over the crust and top with sausage, onion, bacon, pastrami and tomatoes. Sprinkle your mozzarella over the top. Cook for 15 minutes or until the crust crisps. Let it cool off slightly and serve.
