How to Make Carrot Juice

By Heidi Green , last updated March 2, 2011

For a healthy and delicious drink, look no further than the produce aisle. Packed with beta-carotene and other essential vitamins for healthy skin, eyes and reduced rink of heart disease, the carrot is the perfect vegetable to make juice with. With a sweet, slightly earthy taste, carrot juice is a popular drink for hot weather or after a run for a nutrient-packed workout recovery drink. Even if you do not have an electric juicer, preparing this tasty concoction is a snap if you can get a hold of a regular blender. Carrot juice also makes a great base for adding other tastes, as well, such as orange, mint or lime. Follow along with these easy instructions and enjoy your very own carrot juice!

Gather and Clean Carrots

Gather all of you carrots together. For a good-sized serving, start with about 2 pounds worth of them. This should be around eight carrots, depending on size. Make sure that you clean each one thoroughly, and remove any leaves or roughage that remain on the individual carrots.

Blend Carrots

With a blender (or food processor, if you have one) ready, place as many carrots into the blender that can fit (repeat the following steps with the remaining carrots if any are left over). Add a sprig or two of mint, if you'd like a little minty flavor in your juice. Blend them until they are mashed, or at least chopped finely.

Create the Mixture

Place the carrot mix into a large bowl, and mix in about two cups of steaming water. Let this mixture sit for about half an hour. Then strain the mixture through a juice strainer bag into a serving pitcher. If you would like to experiment with different flavors, try adding a cup or two of orange, mango or other juices. Place the serving pitcher in the refrigerator and let cool for about an hour. Serve and enjoy!
