The process of digestion takes a long time and can lead you body to never delving into deep sleep. It is also advised to taper down the consumption of liquids before bed. While plenty of water throughout most of the day is a good thing, drinking too much before bed will have you waking up throughout the night, disrupting your sleep.
While sleeping, make sure the temperature is set at a very comfortable level. Even if a room that is too hot or too cold does not wake you up, it will affect your body's ability to fall into a deep sleep. Also try to keep your sleep as consistent as possible. The amount of time you sleep is less important than making sure it is consistent. Consistent sleep leads to high-quality sleep. Set a bedtime and stick to it. Your body will adjust to the new format.
