Although wearing bows used to be viewed as childish and out of fashion, bows are actually making a huge comeback, which could have something to do with all the celebs rocking them nowadays. There are a lot of different ways you can incorporate this adorable accessory into your wardrobe. It doesn't have to be used in the stereotypical cheerleader ponytail way, although that is a way you can wear it.
A lot of headbands are now coming equipped with large bows. You can wear these types of headbands with your hair down or up, though it looks adorable with a high pony tail or messy bun. If you are wearing a simply outfit that is comprised of mostly black and white, make a statement with the bow. Use a bold color, such as red, to draw attention to it. You can also wear them as clips. A great way to incorporate a bow clip into your hairstyle is to pull up one side of your hair and secure it with a bow. Make sure that it is vertical so that it looks even and styled. The larger the bow the better because it will make it look as if the bow is what is pulling and holding the hair back. This works great for outfits with strapless tops. The large accessory balances out the bare shoulders. As always, you can use bows with ponytails and buns. Try pulling half your hair back and securing with a bow instead of all of your hair. If you want to wear a messy bun, find a bow that will secure somewhere near the top of the mess. It will help to bring order to chaos and will provide a gorgeous balance.
Have fun with bows. Play around with color contrasts. Summer 2011 is all about making a statement!
