How to Wear Liberty Floral Skirts

By Elizabeth Freeman , last updated May 28, 2011

You can wear Liberty floral skirts and look pulled-together and ready for work or you can wear them in a way that is relaxed and casual. The floral print skirts are perfect for a spring or summer time dinner party or picnic. Pair the skirts with a neutral, solid-color top or mix it up by wearing the skirts with stripes that are color coordinated.

Basic 9 to 5 Look

For a look that's smart for work, pair a knee-length, A-line Liberty floral skirt with a white or black, crisp button down shirt. In the summer or spring, go for a short-sleeved shirt. A long or 3/4-sleeved shirt is suitable for the the fall. Tuck the shirt in if it falls below your hips or waist.

Finish the look with a smart ponytail or other work-friendly hair style and a pair of ballet flats. Wrap a wide belt around your waist if you want a little more definition. If you work in a chilly office, go ahead and throw a neutral cardigan or blazer over top of the shirt.

Springtime Casual

Make your Liberty floral skirt casual and perfect for a picnic or afternoon date by wearing it with a neutral colored t-shirt or tank top. Top off the shirt with a denim jacket and a floppy straw hat. Canvas flats or strappy sandals complete the look.

Mix and Match

It's okay to mix prints, as long as you do it with confidence. Look at the colors on the skirt, then choose striped or even plaid shirt with at least one color in common. For example, if your Liberty skirt has a lot of pink in it, look for a thin striped pink and white shirt.

You can also go for a coordinating color that's not present in the skirt. If you have a mostly red floral skirt, try it with a blue striped top. For best results, choose a top with a pull-over, not button-down, styling.
