If you and yours want to go for a true "White Christmas" look this coming holiday season, you'll be happy to know that dressing for the part is much easier than you might think.
You may want to put on one of those gorgeous Christmas colored arrangements worn by Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen in the film. The first step to perfecting this idea is finding a great red and white gown. Sometimes, you might want to start with a simple solid red gown from one of your favorite dress shops, because they are so easy to find. With a little creativity and patience, it's very possible to create your own outfit from scratch.
Once you have a dress (assuming it's solid colored,) you will want to layer it around the waist and collar with fuzzy white trim. You can sew it yourself using white fuzzy fabric available at stores like JoAnn's or other hobby shops to replicate the look of "White Christmas". You will also need a Santa hat in red and white which shouldn't be difficult at all to find, even at your local drug store.
On the other hand, if you want to go for an outfit similar to one of the men in the movie, you will want to make a trip to the nearest vintage or thrift store right away. Thrift stores are great places to discover classic looks, and here you can find sport coats and jackets in some of the soft pastel colors you need to prefect the look. If you can't find what you're looking for, you can explore different Goodwill locations all over town and even make a fun day of it. Thrift shopping is a great way to save money while at the same time creating a memorable classic film look for the holiday.
