How to Wear Red Jeans

p { margin-bottom: 0.08in; }You shouldn't be afraid to wear red jeans. Bold, red jeans are on trend this season. Brightly colored denim can seem like an intimidating clothing choice. It's attention-grabbing. Even though red is a bright color, however, it can easily function as a neutral. Dress the jeans up for a party or night at a club or go for a casual look for relaxing after work or on the weekends.

Simple Tops

A pair of red jeans will look fantastic worn with a simple white shirt. For a relaxed, easy look, wear a fitted, white T-shirt with the jeans. Choose a T-shirt with a deep V-neck to increase the cute factor. Another option is a white henley top or a full button down shirt. If you wear a long-sleeved white shirt, roll the cuffs up to your elbows to make the look even more relaxed.

Black also pairs well with red denim. A black T-shirt looks a little tougher than white. For a tough-girl look, try wearing a black T-shirt or tank top with a black leather jacket. To soften the look, try wearing a black cardigan over a white T-shirt.

Stripes

Channel your inner Frenchwoman by pairing your red jeans with a long-sleeve, black and white striped shirt. The stripes should be thin and horizontal. Look for a boat-neck top for the ultimate gamine look. A navy and white striped top works too.

Boho Style

Red jeans cry out for a funky look sometimes. If you are feeling bold, wear your jeans with an over-sized, faux fur vest and a fitted top beneath. If the faux fur vest look isn't for you, choose a pair of over-sized sunglasses, a wide brim hat, and a flowing, open sweater with your jeans.

Polka Dots

A polka dot printed top looks fabulous with a pair of skinny red jeans. Choose a blouse with a lot of feminine details, such as a cute bow at the neckline or a defined waist with a skirted bottom. The dots can be a black, ivory or dark blue background.

Preppy Look

For a work that screams work or school ready, wear your jeans with a fitted blazer and a respectable button down top. Choose a blazer that has some detailing on it, whether it's leather elbow patches, a bit of sparkle on the collar or shoulders, or fancy buttons. Instead of a solid black or gray color, try a blazer in a fun plaid print for a super preppy look.

Shoes

The shoes you choose to wear with red jeans contribute a lot to your outfit. For example, pairing leopard print pumps with a black T-shirt and jeans dresses up the look considerably. Black ballet flats look adorable with a striped or polka dot top. Ankle booties work well with a bohemian style while canvas sneakers pair well with a relaxed outfit.

The Fit of the Jeans

When it comes to colorful denim, fitted is better than baggy. Stick with red jeans in a skinny or straight leg cut. Wide-leg red denim can look a little clownish. Jeans that fall to the ankle are almost universally flattering, especially if you intend to wear them with pumps or ankle boots.
