The American heavy-metal band Avenged Sevenfold uses a skull with bat's wings – sometimes known as the “deathbat” – as a sort of unofficial logo. This visual, inspired by imagery from Hunter S. Thompson's novel “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,” adorns T-shirts, posters and album covers. A deathbat appears on the cover for the band's single “Bat Country.” To make this image on your keyboard, you can recreate it using typed letters arranged in the bat's distinctive shape. Creating images this way is a process known as ASCII art.
