Chocolate covered strawberries are one of the most romantic – and most delicious – foods in the world. The subtle and soft strawberry sweetness combines with the dark richness of the chocolate in a delightful contrast. While the recipe for preparing chocolate-covered strawberries is fairly simple, you can vary the dessert by using different combinations of semisweet and white chocolates.
Place your semisweet chocolate and white chocolate in 2 different medium heatproof bowls. Fill 2 saucepans with a few inches of water and bring them to a simmer at medium heat, creating a makeshift double boiler. Turn off your heat source and place the bowls with the chocolate in the water in order to melt the chocolate. Stir the chocolate as it melts to make it smooth rather than chunky. If you’re in a rush, you can simply melt the chocolate in a microwave for 1-2 minutes, but where’s the fun in that? Next, take the chocolate off the heat and line a sheet pan with waxed paper. Hold on to your strawberry by the stem and dip the berry into your melted dark chocolate. Cover the berry completely, allowing the extra chocolate to fall back into the bowl. Place it on your waxed paper, and repeat for each strawberry. For a more decorative design, dip the tines of a fork into your melted white chocolate and drizzle over your strawberries. The artistically inclined can make elaborate decorations and show off for their friends. Finally, let the strawberries sit for 30 minutes until the chocolate sets, and then get ready to enjoy!
