Make a Snowman from a Coffee Creamer Container

By Melissa Willets , last updated January 17, 2012

Make a snowman from a coffee creamer container, and kill two birds with one stone.  You are recycling and spending quality time with your child creating this easy seasonal craft.  The coffee creamer snowman makes a cute homemade gift for Grandma and Grandpa or can serve as a candy, spice, hot cocoa or tea jar.

You will need an empty, clean coffee creamer container with the label removed, two twigs for the arms (pipe cleaners or straws work too), buttons for the eyes and mouth, hot glue, felt or fabric strip for the scarf, empty and clean yogurt container for the hat, construction paper, black permanent marker or acrylic paint, and scissors.  Optional items are a baby carrot, cotton balls and glitter.

Directions

You can paint on the snowman's face, or draw it using permanent marker, but another option is to glue on buttons (any size or color will do) for the eyes and mouth.  If you have or want to buy googly eyes from a craft store, that looks cute too.  For the nose, you can use a baby carrot and secure it with hot glue or simply draw or paint it on or use a button.  Additional buttons can be glued down the snowman's front.  Tie a strip of felt or fabric around the "neck" of the snowman and glue in place if necessary.  A fun touch is to cut fringe at the ends of the scarf.  Arms are the twigs, which you will secure with glue.  Add fun touches like glitter "snow."  You can glue cotton balls around the base of the container too so that the snowman looks like he is standing in snow.  Now for the hat. If the coffee creamer has a lid that is a different color such as red or blue, this works fine.  Otherwise, a clean, dry yogurt container that fits snugly over the container can be covered with construction paper to create the hat.
