If you're looking for an affordable way to trap and kill stink bugs, follow the instructions below to make your own stink bug trap. Stink bugs are common in many areas, and they're an incredible nuisance. The bodies of stink bugs are shaped like shields and are usually a speckled brown color. Though they typically live outdoors, they seek shelter when the weather gets cold, and may make attempts to get into your home by climbing through small cracks in doors, windows and siding. As their name implies, they give off a foul odor, so an infestation of this bug is particularly undesirable. Even if they don't make it into your house, they can eat up plants in your garden.
To begin, staple the three pieces of wood to one of the boards. One should be on the outer edge, one in the middle, and one at the opposite outer edge. All boards should be parallel to one another. Next, staple the second piece of cardboard on top of these boards. Both pieces of cardboard should line up exactly. When you've done this, the boards should be sandwiched in between the two pieces of cardboard, creating a slender area for the bugs to crawl inside.
To trap the bugs, tilt the trap on the side of your house. You can make two traps to catch more bugs. After 24 hours, check to see if the trap has any bugs inside, and there will likely be dozens. Shake the bugs out into a plastic bag, which you can tie off and dispose of. Alternatively, you can shake the stink bugs out into a bucket of ammonia water, which will kill them instantly.
Follow these tips and your home and garden will be rid of these annoying insects.
