The growth of a beard or some combination of facial hair can often give a man a distinguished look, but a common problem is that beards have a tendency to be bristly, which raises the need for ways to soften. A prickly beard can cause unpleasantness for both the man with the beard and anyone that may be kissing him. An important aspect of maintaining a beard is properly grooming it so that it will present a clean appearance and be soft to the touch. If you or someone you know has a scruffy or bristly beard, here are a few steps you can take to ensure that your beard is nice and soft.
As a first basic step, be sure to rinse your razor blade often. Failing to do so may cause your skin to grow rough and your stubble to be sharp. Using properly warm water is also quite important because it helps to open your pores, and having your pores open will help you to escape irritation when shaving.
Another method you can undertake when maintaining your beard, is to use coconut oil to soften your beard. What you can do is, about thirty minutes before you go to shave, warm up a bit of coconut oil and comb it through your beard. Coconut oil is an excellent way to soften up your beard a bit. When you have finished shaving, you can use a cold compress to help close your pores.
If you prefer an alternative method, you can choose to grind orange peel into a fine powder and then mix it together with a half-cup of milk. When you reach the desired consistency, apply it gingerly to your entire beard. The mix should be left on for approximately 40 minutes before you remove it. Once it has set for long enough, you should wash it out with warm water from the tap. Just as with the coconut oil, you can use a cold compress when you’re through. This method will give your beard a refreshing orange scent.
Another option available to you is to mix equal parts coconut oil, olive oil, and almond oil. Once they are mixed, heat up some honey and add it to the mixture. Be sure that there is more honey than oil. Once it is blended, apply it to your beard. You want to leave it in your beard for a duration of at least 30 minutes. Afterwards rinse it out with warm water and apply a cold compress. This method is a sure way to get your beard silky soft.
There are also numerous beard shampoos that are available for purchase in specialty stores that you may try if none of the above methods appeal to you. You simply use them like a normal shampoo, mixing them into your beard thoroughly before rinsing it out. A boar bristled brush along with a store bought oil treatment can also be quite helpful in softening up a coarse beard.
